‘Thank Heavens’ for writers like Colette

Directed by Wash Westmoreland, Colette is based upon the life of the French novelist Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (Keira Knightley) who overcame an abusive marriage to Henry Gauthier-Villars (Dominic West) and was a leading writer in her country and a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Two of her most famous works were Gigi, written in 1944, and Chéri, written in 1920. She was also a mime, journalist and actress.

Filming took place in Budapest and Witney, UK. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on September 21, 2018, and in the United Kingdom on January 25, 2019.
