Connor Claire Seal has just released a new album called STANDARDS. Known for such songs as “Crazy” and “Kiss For A Rose”, the iconic British singer will bring us songs ranging from “I Put A Spell On You” to “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” to “My Funny Valentine”.
Heidi Klum’s ex-husband is quoted by Forbes as saying:
… what I found is that they’re called standards for many reasons. But one of the reasons is that although they’ve been covered by many people that are definitive. Like if you think of “Smile” you think of Nat King Cole or if you think of “Luck Be A Lady” you think of Sinatra, you certainly don’t think of me or anyone else. Or you think of “Under My Skin” you only think of Sinatra singing that song. Those songs have existed for a long time before I was born and they will exist a long time after and a lot of the reason for that is because the melodies have been meticulously written and are beautiful. So my approach is to not change it to put my stamp on them, but rather to learn the definitive version of them and then have a period of unlearning them, forgetting about them, then going to record and sing them again. […] But, with these standards, I will say it was perhaps one of the more difficult projects I’ve ever done.
STANDARDS, Seal’s new album, is due for release on November 10th, 2017. Klum filed for divorce from Seal on April 6, 2014, but they remain close friends. Check out Heidi’s puppy Buttercup:
